LTC IntroA coalition of people who care about reducing underage drinking and drug abuse in Essex County.  Our members include youth, parents, educators, police, substance abuse professionals, faith-based and government representatives, and other concerned citizens.

Why ADAPT? Because throughout Essex County…

  • 90% of teens interviewed stated that alcohol is easily accessible in their area
  • More teens are reporting getting access to prescription medication that is not prescribed to them through unlocked medicine cabinets
  • Middle school and high school students are using e-cigarettes and vape pens

Latest Blog

This year, ADAPT will host its Second Annual Teen Summit at the Paul Robeson Center at Rutgers – Newark. The teen summit is an opportunity for over 80 teens from all over Essex County to become empowered to take a stand against drug and alcohol abuse in their communities.

In 2014, 80 teens from eight schools in different towns, including Newark, West Caldwell, Bloomfield, and others, united for a spirited day to discuss how drugs and alcohol affect their communities and how they could make a positive difference to stop and prevent substance abuse.
