Welcome To ADAPT

LTC IntroA coalition of people who care about reducing underage drinking and drug abuse in Essex County.  Our members include youth, parents, educators, police, substance abuse professionals, faith-based and government representatives, and other concerned citizens.

Why ADAPT? Because throughout Essex County…

  • 90% of teens interviewed stated that alcohol is easily accessible in their area
  • More teens are reporting getting access to prescription medication that is not prescribed to them through unlocked medicine cabinets
  • Middle school and high school students are using e-cigarettes and vape pens

Last ySenior Disposing Medsear, ADAPT started its “Brown Bag” Events in Essex County under the leadership of ADAPT member and Essex County Division of Community Health Services’ Deputy Director Eileen Fishman and ADAPT’s Prevention Educator Victoria Joseph. During these events, local senior citizens receive a brief presentation regarding health, prescription medication use/abuse, and other topics.
