SISTA is a social-skills training intervention for both HIV positive and high-risk negative, specifically sexually active, African-American and Latina women (between ages 18 – 29) aimed at reducing sexual risk behaviors. This intervention is designed to increase condom usage. It consists of five peer-led group sessions. These 2-hour sessions are gender specific and culturally relevant including behavioral skill practices, decision making, group discussions, lectures, role-plays, prevention video viewing and take home exercises. The intervention is based on Social Learning theory as well as the theory of Gender and Power.
