Two different topics will be offered per day. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact and network with each other during the small group portion of each session. October 29, 2020 – ADAPTing thru COVID-19: Impact on Self-Care and Access to Resources and Support
- 10am – 12pm: “Strategies for Self-Care and Mindful Meditation during COVID-19”
- 2pm – 4pm: “Resource Fair – Meet Providers in the Field of Substance Abuse, Prevention, and Mental Health!”
During these uncertain times, those who misuse, or abuse substances are particularly vulnerable:
- The stress from social isolation and other COVID-19 related life changes can lead to or worsen substance use and misuse as well as impact mental health.
- There are also health risks resulting from chronic substance use as it weakens the immune system and puts stress on the body’s cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
The mental, emotional, and psychological trauma persisting without sustainable coping mechanisms and meaningful strategies to alleviate the pressure can manifest in unhealthy decisions and experiences.
Collaborative efforts amongst faith leaders and experts in the field of substance abuse, prevention, and mental health will provide tools and resources to equip Essex County communities to improve overall wellness for children and adults.
During the Resource Fair, you will have the opportunity to hear and ask questions about programs that provide community support services, prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Delgado at 201-463-3433 or [email protected]
